Tractor-trailer team drivers since 1990, Lynn and Shelly Baxter joined Landstar in 2004, going to work for Barney Magary, a former Navy sailor turned small motor carrier owner. With 9 trucks in his expedited fleet, he funded the Baxter's effort to create this unique military-themed tribute truck from a 2006 model Freightliner M2 straight truck.
Acquird with just 15,000 miles on the odomoter, the Baxter's truck is now well past 1.25 million miles and counting. Sister-in-law Judy Privett did all the graphics on their rig.
Owner Barney Magary, his son-in-law Al Mann and grand-daughter Beth can be seen grouped in uniform down near the cab on the driver's side of the truck. Barney recently passed away at age 90.
Here's a close up of the Magary Trucking owners: Barney, now deceased, is on the far right, with Al Mann in the middle.
A roll call of past and present military veterans within the Magary and Baxter clans adorns the rear of the truck.
The Baxter's son Brian and daughter-in-law Jennifer adorn the passenger side of the truck.
The military theme continues on the side of the Baxter's vehicle as well.
The red, white and blue dashboard colors are no accident.
Hats designating theaters of family military service - in this case Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan - are prominently displayed when the truck is on show duty.
A long look down the sleeper berth compartment of the Baxter's truck.
Butterscotch-scented candles gives the interior of the Baxter's truck a welcome aroma.
