SuperRigs set for South Texas, June 11-13

With a theme of “Thoroughbreds of Trucking,” the 33rd Shell Rotella SuperRigs will be held June 11-13 at Retama Park in Selma, Texas.

SuperRigs contestants and attendees will be able see some of the best looking working trucks during the day and enjoy horse racing in the evening on Friday and Saturday nights. The racetrack, which hosts Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred horse racing, is located about 20 miles northeast of San Antonio immediately off of at I-35 at Exit 174-A.

SuperRigs will also feature fun and entertaining events for drivers and their families each day and night: games, classic car clubs, SuperRibs BBQ Cook-off, vendor area, and the Rotella Road Show.

On Thursday night, Texas musician Phil Pritchett will have a free live country music concert for all attendees. Friday night begins with the annual truck parade on the thoroughbred race track and will be followed by a fireworks show and truck lights contest. Phil Pritchett will again be in concert with British Invasion hits.

The Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition is billed as the premier truck beauty contest for actively working trucks. Owner-operator truckers from across the United States and Canada will compete for cash and prizes in excess of $25,000.

Twelve drivers will be selected to have their trucks featured in the 2016 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar. SuperRigs entrants will be awarded with a gift package valued at more than $50 while supplies last.

Judging will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, June 11 and 12, and between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, June 13. Judging takes about 20 minutes and contestants do not need to be present to win.

Trucks entered in Shell Rotella SuperRigs are judged by industry professionals who work for major trucking publications or broadcast companies. Judges score the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail/finish, originality, and workmanship. In total, 24 working trucks receive awards for categories such as Best of Show, Tractor, Tractor/Trailer Combination and Classic.
