Money Roll: Freight, rates, the economy in 6 slides

In the American Trucker Money Roll this week, the April data has been collected and the news was mixed: Spot rates were down from March and well behind April last year; over freight volume and payments, however, were up; rail carloads slipped though the intermodal load count continues to be strong; one index of trucking strength slipped, though the number is still well into favorable territory; and a consumer confidence measure took a tumble.
